Week 5 – Harry

Having submitted our project proposal last week; it’s now a bit clearer which direction we’re headed with what we aim to deliver. We’re also doing our first interview this evening to get the ball rolling in regards to actual content. Rosemary has also begun to construct the website as well as begin ideas in regards to linking various media and other components of our documentary. We’ve also thought of some more ideas with regards to content and media forms, and had the idea of doing written/text interviews with subjects who we may not be able to arrange a filmed interview with. These ideas as well as the general development of the project have also brought our attention to the style of our documentary and how it may stray from the original idea, but will continue to document all changes and remain within reasonable bounds.

Week 4 – Anna

This week unfortunately I was not able to attend the lab on Wednesday morning, however we made such good progress with the proposal, my absence didn’t set us back one bit.

The focus of this week was the proposal, as the due date was looming (it’s now tomorrow). Essentially, I started a draft of it and added as much information as I could, we then used our Facebook group to swap the document back and forth, adding as much as we can to do till we have the final piece.

This week also revolved around recruiting people, we already have a band, we now have 2 buskers, we may music magazine connection and we have a lecturer at JMC Academy. Our next step is too organize a time to meet these people, based on THEIR schedules, prepare some questions and get some more footage for our final project.

Week 3 – Harry

At this stage we’ve become familiar with our subject and have had some more time to begin to visualise certain features of our documentary. Annie mentioned she had been doing some groundwork with local bands, and had attended a performance of a potential subject(s) as well as gathering some friends within the industry to generate some interest for our documentary.

We’ve also created another Facebook group for the sake of musicians having a platform to reach us as well as generating some exposure for our project in case their are people in music circles who would like to be involved.

In regards to my own research this week; i’d been searching for a busker (known as something along the lines of “Australia’s blind traveller”) who is generally around the same area in the city. He would be an ideal subject in regards to buskers given his musical ability (singing ballads) as well as being intriguing as the type of subject we’re looking to explore in the documentary. However he has not been in his usual spot the past week so the search for him will continue.
